André Cornellier.
Artiste photographe, vidéographe, commissaire d’exposition, conférencier, chargé de cours, animateur, producteur, éditeur, André Cornellier siège sur plusieurs jurys et est co-fondateur des Prix LUX.
Figure importante dans le domaine de la photographie et des arts visuels, il est un artiste photographe avec une carrière cumulant plus de 30 ans d’expérience. Il est reconnu pour ses photographies artistiques et de théâtre qui ont été publiées au Québec comme à l’étranger et présentées dans le cadre de nombreuses expositions.
Son travail photographique lui a permis de récolter plus de 70 prix et reconnaissances, à New-York, Toronto, Londres, Paris, Montréal, Genève.
Cornellier a présenté pas moins de 25 expositions en tant que commissaire avec des artistes tels que Gabor Szilasi et a produit et distribué quatre vidéos et un film, dont un documentaire-poétique sur Michael Flomen, présenté au Festival International des Films sur l’Art, FIFA, en 2009.
Touchant également à l’édition, il a publié une monographie sur les artistes canadiens Carlos & Jason Sanchez L’instant de la rupture/The moment of rupture, qui a été distribué internationalement et sur Marisa Portolese Le Jardin d’Antonia / Antonia’s Garden
Depuis 2001, il est le directeur général de UMA, Maison de l’image et de la photographie et depuis 2003, un représentant canadien du Conseil Consultatif International pour PLUS (Picture Licensing Universal System), une coopérative internationale qui a pour but de catégoriser les différents usages en photographie pour l’octroi et l’acquisition des droits d’auteurs.
Il a piloté durant 15 ans, au sein de la CAPIC et de PPOC, le projet pour changer la loi sur le droit d’auteur afin de faire reconnaitre aux photographes canadiens leurs droits par le gouvernement canadien. Grâce a ce travail aujourd’hui les photographes sont, depuis le 7 octobre 2012, premier titulaire des droits sur leur travail.
Avec plusieurs projets à son actif, Cornellier demeure impliqué socialement, ex: l’Hôpital Ste-Justine, l’Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, Le Refuge (la résidence pour femmes en difficulté).

An important figure in the field of photography and visual arts, he is a photographic artist with a career spanning more than 30 years of experience. He is known for his artistic and theatrical photographs that have been published in Quebec and abroad and presented in numerous exhibitions.
His photographic work has garnered over 70 awards and recognitions in New York, Toronto, London, Paris, Montreal, Geneva.
Cornellier has curated no less than 25 exhibitions with artists such as Gabor Szilasi and has produced and distributed four videos and one film, including a poetic documentary on Michael Flomen, presented at the International Festival of Films on Art, FIFA, in 2009.
Also in the area of editing, he has published a monograph on Canadian artists Carlos & Jason Sanchez L’instant de la rupture/The moment of rupture, which has been distributed internationally and on Marisa Portolese, Le Jardin d’Antonia / Antonia’s Garden.
Since 2001, he has been the Executive Director of UMA, Maison de l’image et de la photographie and since 2003, a Canadian representative on the International Advisory Council for PLUS (Picture Licensing Universal System), an international cooperative that aims to categorize the different uses in photography for the granting and acquisition of copyright.
For 15 years, he led the project within CAPIC and PPOC to change the copyright law in order to have Canadian photographers’ rights recognized by the Canadian government. As a result of this work today, photographers are, as of October 7, 2012, the first owners of the rights to their work.
With several projects to his credit, Cornellier remains socially involved, e.g. Ste-Justine Hospital, Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital, Le Refuge (the residence for women in difficulty).
